FAQ
1. I have a particular interest in becoming a reformer pilates instructor. I do not have a basic level qualification. Can you guide me as to what the best path to take is?
You must have a Pilates Mat qualification first before completing the reformer course. (in exceptional circumstances where participants have a prior qualification, plus experience facilitating human movement, it may be possible to take the reformer training first, followed by Pilates mat ( within 12 months). We offer a 20% discount on our training courses for past pupils.
2. I have a Pilates Mat Qualification. What do I need before participating?
You need to have a minimum of 15 Reformer sessions attended before participation. Can you provide me with more info about accreditation?
Our courses are endorsed by the International Institute of Complementary Therapists, which has insurance partners in around 25 countries worldwide. In other words, you are certified to teach.
3. Are your course reps accredited? No.
4. What time each day? Full schedule here
5. How many participants? Max 18
6. Do I need to own a reformer? No. However, it is optimal to have access to one to dedicate time to self-practice between Training modules. Some of our host venues offer access to machines outside of their class schedules. Booking is essential.
7. What if I can't attend each day? Unless there is a prior agreement based on your experience, you must attend a minimum of 90% of the training for certification. Any missed hours after that must be made up with a tutor at an additional cost of €70 per hour.
8. What is the exam? You will be required to demonstrate a selection of Reformer exercises, teach a selection of exercises, and answer questions in a written paper on theory.
9. What happens if I don't pass the exam or need to defer? Space permitting, you can defer or resit once, free of charge. Spaces are limited, so we recommend you aim to sit the exam assigned to your course.
10. What else is needed for certification? After the course begins, you must log 15 reformer sessions with a teacher or teachers of your choice. Our co -host venues offer low rate available for scheduled classes.
11. Is this a classical Pilates Training?
No. Here at PTTI, we believe in evidence and best practice when it comes to helping people move better. And on that note, we believe the Pilates Reformer is an excellent tool to support this. We use as much evidence-based research to support our training courses, some of which contradicts how Joseph Pilates taught. Having had the privilege to train with one of his elders, Lolita San Miguel, we follow her assertion that Pilates was an innovator and would welcome well-thought-out innovation in Pilates. This course takes exercises and methods from the original sequences and adds contemporary functionality through modern anatomical research.
12. How many hours in total is the training? It depends somewhat on how you learn, your prior qualifications and experience, and how often you might need to revisit materials, but here is a quick breakdown.
